Step Outside
Hey Sunshine!
I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time indoors working at my computer, cooking, and doing household things. The whole day can go by with my head buried in indoor activities, especially because I work from home.
Mindfully Go Outside
The same thing can happen if you are indoors at work in an office all day. Yes, you technically were outside when you left the house to go to and from work, but you didn’t get to experience just “being” outside. You probably weren’t aware of the beautiful sunshine or the crisp clear air. You had your head filled with the to-dos of the day.
Sometimes I have to actually put “mindfully go outside” on my to-do list!
Take it All In
Something miraculous happens when I mindfully step outside, put my face in the sun, and breathe in the fresh air. My muscles start to relax, my mind starts to quiet, and my mood begins to lift. I do this mindfully, this IS the activity. Just be in the present moment outdoors, not on your way somewhere. Just be. Feel the elements around you, take it all in.
A Whole New Wonderful Feeling.
A huge shift toward lightening up my day occurs in that moment, and all I did was mindfully step outside with the intention of giving myself 5-10 minutes to connect with the sun and the air. My head clears and a sense of peace and happiness come over me.
So the next time you find yourself spending too much time indoors, create a simple Lightened Up Activity and step outside. Take in the sights, sounds, and scents of the beautiful outdoors. You will be amazed at how this simple act will create a whole new wonderful feeling.
