Italian Sausage Wonton Cups
/Hey Food Finders!
This holiday appetizer is a real winner! They are fun, delicious, full of flavor, and filling! When I made these Italian Sausage Wonton Cups last year, they were gobbled up as soon as they came out of the oven. Put them out at a party or gathering and they will disappear before your eyes!
The Facts
Makes 24 Wonton Cups
Serving Size = 1 Wonton Cup, 2 SP, and 57 Calories
Ingredients
1 package (6 links) raw turkey sausages (casings removed)
1 15oz. can of Hunts tomato sauce or any zero point tomato sauce
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
24 wonton wrappers
1 1/2 cups shredded reduced-fat Italian cheese blend
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Fresh or dried parsley for garnish, minced
Oil spray
24 cup muffin tins
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F
In a large pan, cook the sausage meat on medium heat until the crumbles are no longer pink. Drain off all fat, then stir in the tomato sauce and all of the spices except for the parsley garnish. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer to thicken it, for about 15 - 20 minutes.
While the sausage mix is simmering, spray the muffin tins and press one wonton wrapper into each compartment. Bake for 8 - 9 minutes until lightly browned.
Take the muffin tray out of the oven, fill each cup with 2 tablespoons of the sausage mixture, and top with 1 tbsp of shredded cheese each and a dusting of Parmesan cheese. Bake until cheese is melted and golden.
Serve hot with a garnish of minced parsley sprinkled on top.
